Service overview.

Top Rated Roofing installs and repairs flat and low-slope roofs for homes and commercial buildings in Fort Worth and North Central Texas. We work with TPO, EPDM and modified bitumen roofing systems.

Shingles need a certain amount of slope to shed water. Sections with little or no slope, such as patio covers, porches, additions and many commercial roofs, need a membrane roofing system instead.

About This Service

What to expect.

TPO is a white single-ply membrane with heat-welded seams that reflects heat, which helps during a Texas summer. EPDM is a durable rubber membrane that handles temperature changes well. Modified bitumen is a tough, multi-layer system that works well where there is foot traffic or rooftop equipment.

Good drainage is important on any flat roof. Standing water that remains for more than a couple of days can shorten the life of the roof, so drains, scuppers and slope should be checked during an inspection.

FAQs

Flat Roofs FAQs

Why does my patio roof leak when the rest of the roof is fine?

If a low-slope patio roof is covered with shingles, water can back up under them and cause leaks. A membrane roof is usually the better choice for that section.

How long does a flat roof last?

Most flat roofs last 15 to 25 years, depending on the material and how well the roof drains.

Is standing water on a flat roof normal?

Some water right after rain is normal. Water that is still there after a couple of days may point to a drainage problem that should be checked.

TPO or EPDM?

Both are good options. TPO reflects heat, which is helpful in Texas, and EPDM is flexible and works well around complex details. We can recommend the right system for your roof.

Can a flat roof be repaired rather than replaced?

Often, yes. Many flat roof leaks come from seams, flashing and penetrations that can be repaired without replacing the whole roof.
